Local art contest champions patriotism amongst youth, offering exciting scholarship rewards to talented students across the country.
The annual Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States Auxiliary, is welcoming entries from students in grades 9-12. This patriotic art contest, running since 1979, is aimed at promoting American patriotism amongst the younger generation via creative expression.
The local chapter at Harvey F. Eckhoff VFW Post 7674 Auxiliary in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, invites eligible students to participate. The contest deadline is March 31, and it presents an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their artistic skills in the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest and the 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest.
Winners at the state level will proceed to the national level. Prizes include scholarships paid directly to the American college, vocational, technical, or trade school chosen by the winners. Visit the official VFW Auxiliary website for detailed eligibility requirements and entry forms.
Last year’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest winner was Alice Barron, an 11th grade homeschool student from Dale City, Virginia. Her pencil art titled “Raising Future Leaders Through the Eyes of a Warrior” earned her a $15,000 scholarship. For inspiration, check out previous entries.
Kayla Neale, an 11th grader at Holley Central School District in New York, won the 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest for her “Found Object Eagle Sculpture”, securing a $2,500 scholarship. View past 3-Dimensional entries.
The Harvey F. Eckhoff VFW Post 7674 Auxiliary comprises relatives of veterans who have served in foreign conflict locations. Their active involvement in community outreach programs represents their enduring spirit, even amid personal challenges.
