A free event is being offered to military veterans in need on January 27 hosted by Rogers-Hinson American Legion Post 235 and Healing Paws for Warriors, Inc.

Beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 2 p.m., this special Veteran Outreach Recruiting Event will be held at the American Legion Post 235 located at 105 Hollywood Boulevard NW in Fort Walton Beach. It offers military veterans in need (plus spouses/significant others) information as to how ADA-certified service dogs may help veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorders, anxiety disorders, major depression, autism spectrum disorders, etc. Further, it will help them learn how to qualify for the program.

Healing Paws for Warriors, Inc. is a veteran-founded/veteran-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization “dedicated to providing combat veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and military sexual trauma (MST) rescue-to-trained ADA-certified service dogs.” The organization is in the Crestview, Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Panama City Beach, and Pensacola areas.

The American Legion’s mission is to help the brave “men and women who swore with their lives to defend and protect the United States through military service.”

For more information, you may contact American Legion Post 235 at (850) 243-0221 or by calling Healing Paws for Warriors at (850) 716-8198.
