The Fort Walton Beach Ladies Golf Association (FWBLGA) announced its top winners on May 21 during an awards banquet at Pepper’s Mexican Grill and Cantina to celebrate the league’s 62nd-year season end.

  • Winner of the 2023/2024 President’s Cup is Lisa Curry.
  • The Club Championship went to FWBLGA President Betty Riker.
  • Golfer of the Year is Carla Reinlie who also achieved Most Improved.

Along with tournaments, FWBLGA members are offered new challenges each week throughout the league season along with their USGA-regulated 18-hole rounds. The goal is to enhance their focus and play skills; for example, Low Putts, 3 Little Pigs (toss out 3 worst holes), 5 of Clubs Only (choose only 5 clubs with which to play), and so on. The purpose is to help players improve their skills while still making the game fun.

Betty Riker, FWBLGA President, said, “The camaraderie and learning the rules of golf are most important. Also valuable are the ways each golfer can earn rewards for an accomplishment. We have lots of fun playing the game of golf. It’s a great opportunity to exercise with friends.”

FWBLGA is also a member of the Emerald Coast Interclub League (ECIL). That league is an amalgamation of other women’s golf leagues in Okaloosa County: Blackstone, Eglin, Gator Lakes, Rocky Bayou, and Shalimar Pointe. Once a month, a member club hosts ECIL play with eight women representing each club. This enables women across the county to engage with other women golfers and avail themselves of the opportunity to experience the challenge of a new golf location perspective.

The 2024/2025 league season will re-open September 3. Contact FWBLGA President Betty Riker at (850) 687-0146 or Cat Lux at (850) 240-8092 for more information.
