Finally Free (240524): Renewing Your Mind Pastor Willie Collins
Whenever someone is trying to trust God for something greater than where they are already, you have to do something that stretches your faith. Something you know you can’t accomplish in your own ability and you have to give God the Glory!!
When believing God to change lives and get the word out about how great Jesus is, the body of Christ must remain focused.
In addition to that, there must be some sacrifices in our personal lives as well as our professional lives; again:
KJV Romans 12:2 says it like this:
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
SUBJECT: “RENEWING YOUR MIND”
In our lives as born again believers there are going to be some challenges.
The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.
See the truth of God tell us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens you Philippians 4:13
See we have to approach each situation in our daily walk with Christ knowing the truth of God.
The only way anyone will be able to go to greater heights in God is to get rid of that stinking thinking.
1. Check the people you are spending the most time with.
Is it that you are the smartest person in your circle and everyone is always looking up to you and you are the primary resource of wisdom?
Surround yourself around people who are smarter than you and who challenges you to be greater than what you are currently.
DON’T JUST SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRE!!
2. You want to be in a better place in your life, start spending more time with God and less time with people who don’t glorify God
- Successful people seek out successful people!! There should never be a time in your life that you want to be like a sinner.
James 4:4 (ESV)
• Whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
• Unless you are trying to win a person to Christ, you should not spend allot of time with unbelievers. Always remember we are supposed to be a good influence to the world.
• Check and see who you are spending the most time with.
• Check and see what you are allowing in your spirit.
I want you share this quote that says “Show me your friends I’ll show you your future.”
The great thing about that is, surrendering to God is the first step in renewing your mind.
3. Find a Godly mentor who’s willing to pour into you even when it hurts.
You don’t need a yes person. You need someone who will tell you when you’re in SIN!!!! You need people in your life that will pull out the BEST IN YOU!!!
Not everyone can handle hardship!
In John 15:1-17
There has to be some cutting away!! There are some people that God has told you to cut off and you keep them around and you know that they are not beneficial for you or your family’s life at all.
Luke 8:16-18
• God wants us with our renewed mind openly.
• When the light of the truth about Jesus illuminates us, we have the duty to shine the light to help others.
Our witness for Christ should be public and never be hidden or ashamed of.
Don’t allow the sin of your past or present to hinder the Flow of God’s mighty power to stop the Greatness of His Power.
Jesus is alive and well able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can think or imagine. God has some amazing things in store for the children of God.
We have to know that we are His chosen people and He wants us to be Blessed beyond our wildest dreams. We have yet to tap into the greatness of God, but we have to renew our mind!!
It’s time for us to step up our game plan and not only for us to be better but also to help others be better.
In Closing I would like to sum it up with the reading of the entire
Chapter of Romans 12 (AMP)
Lastly as you have taken all this in I hope that as we are in this Christmas season has quickly come upon us that we see that only what we do through Christ will last and will apply the word of God to our daily circumstances in renewing our mind and trusting God even in the small things and not in the large alone!!
You have greatness in you and you should walk in that with your head up and your feet rooted and grounded to walk, run, crawl into you destiny in Christ Jesus our Lord!!!!
Jesus is Lord of all!!!!
