Getting to Know Garrison LeMire: The Taylor Hogan Award Winner Garrison LeMire
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Garrison LeMire, the Taylor Hogan award winner from Niceville High School, at the 55th Annual All Sports Association Award Night and Banquet. In this interview, we got to learn more about Garrison’s background, his unique experiences growing up, and his plans for the future.
Garrison shared with us that he was born in Texas and moved around quite a bit due to his father’s service in the Air Force. His family’s motto was to “bloom where you’re planted,” and this allowed him to make friends easily and get involved in different communities. His diverse upbringing took him to California, Germany, Japan, and eventually to Niceville, Florida.
One of the most significant takeaways from Garrison’s childhood was the opportunity to travel and experience different cultures. He emphasized the importance of traveling and how it can open one’s mind to the privileges and blessings they have. Garrison’s humility and appreciation for his surroundings were evident as he spoke about his travels.
Garrison was honored to receive the Taylor Hogan Award, named after a remarkable young man who had a positive impact on the community before his passing. This award recognizes students who embody the values and qualities that Taylor exemplified. Garrison expressed his gratitude for being chosen as the recipient of this prestigious award and acknowledged the sense of responsibility that comes with carrying on Taylor’s legacy.
As Garrison nears the end of his high school journey, he has his sights set on attending Texas A&M University to study psychology, with a possible double major or minor in exercise physiology. He aspires to work with the special operations community in a human performance capacity, utilizing his knowledge in psychology and exercise physiology to make a difference.
