The Fort Walton Beach High School JROTC (Unit FL-051) program received a boost of $2,677.50 on Monday, March 11, from Harvey F. Eckhoff VFW Post 7674 and VFW Post 7674 Auxiliary.

The check was presented to the FL-051 cadets by Post 7674’s Commander Kevin Thurman, Service Officer Eddie L Baker, and Auxiliary Junior Vice President June Scroggin in thanks for FL-051’s volunteer assistance with the Valentine’s Dinner for veterans and guests in February.

Commander Thurman said, “Our membership and guests were impressed with the professionalism and attentiveness by each of the cadets. As a result, the cadets earned $700 in tips/donations.”

The VFW and the Auxiliary decided to each match that $700 and even went further to help fund the JROTC by hosting a Bingo night which added another $577.50.

Jade Bradley, FL-051 Corps Commander, expressed the unit’s gratitude and explained that the funds “will allow our unit to attend the Gulf Coast Salute Air Show in Panama City as well as the Ba’taan Memorial Death March. Thank you so much again—our unit deeply appreciates this amazing gift as well as we deeply appreciate our loving community.”

Harvey F. Eckhoff VFW Post 7674 is located at 213 Carol Ave NW in Fort Walton Beach. They may be reached via email or by calling 850-244-3834. Information about joining may be found here.
